FuturaGene’s GM eucalyptus wins ABTCP Award for Innovation

FuturaGene’s yield-enhanced genetically modified eucalyptus was the winning project of the Award for Innovation, covering Research and Development and Technology, of the Brazilian Pulp and Paper Technical Association (ABTCP). The award was presented to Suzano Pulp and Paper, FuturaGene’s parent company, during the 48th Pulp and Paper International Conference and Exhibition held between October 6 and 8, in São Paulo.

This eucalyptus variety, which produces approximately 20% more wood than comparable conventional varieties, was approved for commercial use by the National Technical Commission on Biosafety (CTNBio) in April 2015.
