Gene Discovery Platform

FuturaGene’s discovery program is focused on our two platforms of abiotic stress and yield enhancement and processability. Our gene discovery program has resulted in a strong intellectual property portfolio covering genes involved in plant abiotic stress tolerance mechanisms as well as collections of various gene families that modulate cell wall biosynthesis and processability and the processes involved therein. Our groundbreaking discoveries in the protein modulation of cell wall biosynthesis, have served as a jumping-off point for continued discovery in this rapidly evolving field, which is central to biomass and second generation bioethanol production. In addition, we have invented and discovered enabling technologies, which allow us to transform and select plants more efficiently and in ways that are environmentally friendly and sustainable.

Our discovery capability is backed by the capability to apply our discoveries in plant species of major economic and environmental importance, with our leading traits already in late-stage commercial field trials.
